(CC) licensed:govmarkwarner

Would your school governors be able to handle press enquiries well?

The purpose of these seminars is to empower a wide range of School Governors with the skills to handle media enquiries confidently and avoid preventable media crises.

The seminar will be tailored to meet the needs of School Governors, keen to promote a positive image of their schools to local media, with the emphasis on handling difficult media enquiries on sensitive subjects in times of crises for schools.

(We can also go through school crisis management plans.)

Our crisis communications trainer will cover the following key areas:

  • Successful media relations with newspapers, radio and TV
  • Being proactive
  • Building relationships with friendly journalists
  • Media interview training
  • The writing of Press Releases
  • Success messages following Ofsted Reports
  • Coping with poor Ofsted Reports
  • Right to reply
  • Media Relations management
  • Crisis management
  • Having an alternative to "no comment"

Seminar Structure

This Media Awareness Seminar would be about two hours long and for a group of about 30-50 School Governors - some of whom may be very experienced in handling the media, but the majority of whom would probably have no media experience at all.

The seminar would consist of a series of modules, presented using a combination of PowerPoint, Flip Charts, Videos and interactive audience participation.
